Wadsworth, Ohio (January 4, 2010) – Robert and Phyllis Leatherman have been well known in the local hospitality industry since they opened a Manner's Big Boy Restaurant in the 1950s, and then later, Michael's Restaurant in downtown Barberton. After dreaming of building a restaurant in their hometown for years, they began to assemble plans to open a restaurant in Wadsworth that would be unlike anything local residents had experienced. On January 10, 2000, their dream became reality and the Galaxy opened the doors to the public to showcase their 30,000 sq. ft facility. The facility was a glimpse of their passion for the hospitality industry. “The vision of the Galaxy was built on the foundation of our own beliefs since the early 50’s,” said Robert Leatherman, “Great food and great service, every meal, every guest, and every day”.
Over the last 10 years the Galaxy has been the benchmark for outstanding food, as evidenced by numerous awards from surrounding communities and competitions. Guests in the main Dining Room will find themselves dining under a cloud filled domed ceiling, the likes only to be found in Las Vegas, where tables are served hand cut steaks, the freshest seafood selections, creative pasta dishes and house made desserts. The Wine Room, the most recent addition to the Galaxy generates radiant warmth from the fireplaces, exposed stone, copper tin ceiling and dark woodwork. The energy created by diners can be felt throughout the building. The galaxy granite top bar boast more than 290 wines by the bottle, 50 wines by the glass and serves the same dazzling menu as their main dining room. The high tech Sports Bar features high definition large and jumbo screens, all under a star filled sky. Off the Sports Bar is an extensive outdoor patio complete with its own Tiki bar, waterfall, and outdoor pavilion for live music in the summer. The Galaxy Banquet facility can host groups from 20 – 500 in any one of the elegant rooms. The Leatherman’s passion that built a landmark in January of 2000 can be felt in every corner of the Galaxy today, but most importantly, their passion can be felt in their great food and great service, every meal, every guest, every day.
In recognition of 10 years, the Leatherman’s would like to extend sincere appreciation to their loyal guests, dedicated staff members, quality suppliers and the community for their contributing support to the Galaxy. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary, they are offering special features throughout the month of January including 2 lunches for $10 and dinner entrees for $10.
The Galaxy Restaurant & Banquet Center will hold an anniversary celebration on Friday, January 22, 2010. The Leatherman Family & Staff of the Galaxy are excited about their 10 year anniversary and for the opportunity to celebrate with their guests who have supported them throughout the years.
